NOTE - the water level was low so while the campground is near the concrete slipway, there is no access to the water. There seemed to be access to the water further along the same road (since there was traffic) but we did not go further down the road. Call before you go!
Overall - good stop on the way from Bryce Canyon NP (via Scenic Byway 12) to Natural Bridges NP.
Showed up at dusk not knowing what to expect - our party was low on food and gas and absolutely filthy, covered in dust. We set up in the dark and there was nothing open, not even the gas station. A stroll down to the water took maybe 15 minutes of walking despite our setting up next to the boat ramp! The water levels here are very low and rinsing off in the lake was out of the question due to swamps and cliffs. No showers available at the bathrooms and the sinks aren't suitable for washing up, ok for brushing your teeth. Fish cleaning station was out of order (did I mention that we were FILTHY?!) The gas station pumped gas but the store never opened in the morning so I think we each ate half a granola bar washed down with tequila for breakfast. It's a pretty sad state of affairs in Hite. 1 star for technically existing in this no-mans land and +1 star for the place looking pretty clean despite neglect.
Not maintained great fishing if boat ramp is assessable.
Waiting for the water to return...
Stayed here early August.
Was warm when we were there. Blustery winds during the night woke us up though.
The bathrooms were really nice with flush toilets. There was a water available in the water fountains. I saw a red water spigot at the official campground but did not try it. There store had snacks and a surprising array of camping supplies, but was limited other then that. It's National Park Recreation area so there is a few. I think we paid about $12 for a night of camping. We never saw a ranger.
Campground - our RV was the only campers there that night so lots of room. $12 fee. Spectacular scenery and night sky. Clean restrooms. Water on site.
(One star removed because of low water in the lake. ) If you want solitude then this is your place. My wife and I camped in our camper van next to the large boat launch cement ramp. We were next to the nice restrooms. Just north of us were the official campsites (about 8). There were old tables and a rock fire ring at our site. It was memorial day weekend and there were about 4 other RVs in the area. The lake is super low and so it is really more of a river. We could not figure out how to get down to the river without going through a bunch of bushes so we didn't do that. There are many spots to camp with the water being so low. There is a store with (expensive) gas. We purchased ice there. We loved the amazing views and solitude we felt. We will go back and camp there again. Make sure you visit the Hite Overlook that is on the other side of the river on Highway 95. What a view from there!
